Dailies

Although I still have ambition to chief my own pictures I am not one of those make-up and hair designers who has to always chief or be HOD.  When I am invited to join a team who is a pleasure to work with, I'm only too happy to go in as a daily (or on contract).  2019 is my 40th year in the industry as a make-up and hair person, so I feel I've earned the right to step up to Chief when asked or to take a step back to support others if the job/team/rate appeals.  A handful of other designers trust me to be this flexible and I am grateful they value what I bring in terms of experience and quality work.

I'm aware seeing me doing dailies sometimes throws people, long time known management and colleagues alike, but I like to mix things up, it keeps contacts fresh without the pressure of putting new people under pressure.  It's good to get to know the talents and strengths of new make-up and hair artists in this more relaxed setting so that when I am next an HOD I know better who to choose for my team.  I appreciate not always having to be in the all-consuming, laser-like and driving head space that being an HOD requires and the responsibility and constant exercising of judgement that goes with it.

Sometimes it can all get a bit too serious and worthy and I believe trusting a light touch of experienced talent and good heart will see you through.

"The Feed" for fellow Make-up Designer Carol Cooper.

For Mammoth Screen

"Endeavour" VI - For the 4th year running (now moving into the early 1970's), I joined Irene's team to do dailies for the Oxford locations.  I love doing dailies for Irene and her team on this successful, stylish series.  Locations are usually within 10 miles, (sometimes 2 miles) of my home in Oxfordshire, it's a pleasure to rock up to a team of familiar faces.
